Self Represented Parties in Colorado's Water Courts
This research project aims to better understand the role of self-represented parties (pro se) in Colorado's water courts. We hope to evaluate the obstacles that self-represented parties face throughout the process; any challenges their participations causes for the courts, administrators, attorneys, and other parties; and any possible solutions.
As part of our research, we are collecting information from a wide variety of actors in the water court process, from judges and referees to clerks and division engineers and water commissioners, as well as those who have represented themselves. However, we also would like to collect information and feedback from attorneys who have had experience dealing with self represented parties in water court or who have thoughts or ideas they'd like to share about th water court in this context.
The outcome of this research will be a law review article that provides a legal overview and summarizes the qualitative data collected about self represented parties in Colorado's water courts.
We invite willing participants to fill out a survey.
To participate, you must be 18 years or older. This survey is voluntary and will take approximately 30 minutes.
We are also seeking individuals would be interested in participating in future focus groups about these issues or who would like get updates on this research project. Click here.
